THIS GLASS CYLINDER HEAD ON A BRIGGS ENGINE GIVES A GREAT VISUAL
It’s not often we get to see inside and engine that’s actually running, but thanks to these two gentlemen from YouTube channel 805ROADKING, we are get a look inside this Briggs engine, albeit a brief one.
These guys have fashioned a head out of plexiglass or lexan and used it to give us a look inside the combustion chamber as they try to get the small engine to fire, though they are having trouble thanks to a dodgy flywheel that doesn’t want to stay firmly attached to the crankshaft. However, a couple of times during the clip, we do get to see the spark plug ignite the fuel into a nice blue moment of combustion, but the engine doesn’t fire up and run. We have to assume the guys didn’t come this far to give up though, so hopefully in a future video, they will have the bugs ironed out and we will get to see the engine fire up and run.
Regardless of if it ever fires, this is still an awesome idea. I hope we get to see it firing off a few times a second in the future, as that has to look pretty cool!
